In Vino Veritas

I missed you last night
Even as we sat talking, watching tv
While sipping wine on the couch
Knowing that soon I would have to leave
I was aware that our time was fleeting
And I found myself yearning to remain

You had to notice I seemed preoccupied
You mentioned that I must be exhausted
After working a thirteen-hour day
But it was dread at having to depart
The welcome of your loving presence
That imposed the tax most strenuous

There was nothing that I wanted more
Than to tenderly sweep you into embrace
Arms encircling waist to draw you near
Lips seeking your neck to find purchase
Stirring breath chilling fevered flesh
Languorously laving with heated whispers

Would that I could have lifted you then
To cradle you secure, both strength
And tenderness evident in my grip
To clasp your body close to mine
And sense the struggle of a heart
Bursting to be freed from bonds corporeal

I would have carried you
Down the hallway darkened
Past the arena of sleeping boys
And beyond, into a realm
Where every fondest fantasy finds form
When adults who choose dare to dream

My heart's desire would have been
To transport you across thresholds forbidden
Taboos inciting the excitement of titillation
To lay conjoined in boudour
Bending one vow pledged, the small expense
To afford us the vaster promise of your love
