I knew it the moment I saw you
After talking with you on the phone
The effect of your words upon me made me feel
I wanted to be with you alone
When you came to the door I was gleeful
You were attractive to my pleasant surprise
I didn't know what to expect not having seen you
But as they say you were a sight for sore eyes
It felt natural for me to be there
As I admired the decor of your house
It felt great to confirm expectations
That had sprung from a computer and mouse
I had initially planned to be with you
No sooner than the ninth of July
But I couldn't wait to see you
And when we met I could finally see why
You were everything that I'd ever imagined
Surpassing standards that I'd set before
I never dreamed that I'd meet someone like you
You were all that I wanted and more
I couldn't keep my eyes off you
During dinner I couldn't avert my gaze
And on our apres Cafe 225 stroll
Your words barely penetrated my daze
We followed dinner with more talk and a movie
A film about the Revolutionary War
The movie was full of military action
But it was you that I couldn't ignore
I placed the popcorn midway between us
With my hand upon your inner thigh
I debated which treat was more tasty
As I munched and caressed as I sighed
As I sat there with you in the theater
Watching both the movie and you by my side
I cheered on Mel Gibson's heroic demeanor
Especially when his efforts turned the tide
All too soon the movie was over
Though it lasted in excess of three hours
As we left we could see stars through cloud cover
In the darkness of those ebony hours
When we got back to 120 Elm
I scraped the bottom of my car... damn, a dent
But that's what you get when the driver at the helm
Doesn't know the slope of the cement
I stood there in shadow to bid evening
As you searched in your purse for the key
Then I swept you into embrace reeling
From the sudden sense of near intimacy
A hug with the duration of moments
A kiss that was an instant less
No complaint from me did you hear though
As I was too preoccupied with bliss
When I finally arrived home after 2:30
I fell fast asleep it would seem
I slept like a baby without worries
Our first date represented my dreams
